How To Calm Your Mind Before Your First Injectables: A Simple Day of Checklist

Because this should feel exciting, not overwhelming

If your appointment is coming up and you’ve caught yourself overthinking it even a little, you’re not alone. This is usually the part where people start spiraling just a bit. Am I doing the right thing? Is it going to hurt? Did I forget something? All of it.

Let me just say this first. You’ve already done the hard part. You’ve had your consultation, asked your questions, made a plan, and found a provider you trust. Now this part gets to be simple. Just focus on a few day-of things to help your appointment go a little more smoothly, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Eat something before you come in.

It doesn’t have to be a full meal, but a little food in your system makes a difference. You’ll feel more steady and just overall better during your treatment.

Hydration helps too.

You don’t have to be perfect about it, but if you can drink a little water ahead of time, great. If not, it’s not a deal breaker. We’ll take care of you either way.

If you’re able to come in with a clean face, that’s always helpful.

If you’re coming straight from work with makeup on, don’t worry about it. We’ll take it off before your appointment.

And the one thing that might be the most important… stay off the internet.

I say that with love. TikTok, Google, group chats, they are not helping you right now. What you see online is rarely your situation, your face, or your plan. You already have a provider and a plan. Trust that.

One more thing people don’t always think about ahead of time is coming without your kids if you can.

Not because life doesn’t happen, but because it’s really hard to focus on yourself when you’re also in mom mode. I can always tell when a mom is trying to split her attention, and it’s just not the same experience for you. This is your time to be present, to relax, and to actually focus on your treatment. And honestly, it’s also hard for kids to understand what’s happening when we’re doing injections. If you’re able to give yourself that time, it makes a big difference in how the whole appointment feels.

At the end of the day, you don’t need to overcomplicate this. Come in having eaten, a little hydrated, take a breath, and trust the plan that we’ve made together. This should feel like something you’re excited about. I want you to feel confident in your decision, not stressed over it.

You’re in good hands.

Warmly,

Brittany
